About This Project
CalmRoute is a full-stack web application that helps users find the calmest driving routes by prioritizing low-traffic paths over raw speed, using live TomTom traffic data and color-coded congestion visualization on an interactive map.
Problem Statement
Drivers using traditional GPS apps are routed based on fastest estimated time or shortest distance, but these apps often send everyone down the same highway, creating bottlenecks and stressful stop-and-go traffic. Commuters waste time sitting in jams they could have avoided if they knew which roads were actually flowing smoothly right now, and they have no easy way to compare routes by how congested each one is before they start driving.

CalmRoute addresses the problem of traffic congestion by providing a routing solution that helps drivers identify less crowded paths.
